Welcome to Holy place Madhav Ashram

Welcome to the ashram. Religion is not commercialized here. This place is a center for the promotion of Agnihotra. Agnihotra began here in 1963. The ashram's mission is to spread the knowledge of Agnihotra to the masses. There is no guru here. You can have faith in anyone you want, but perform Agnihotra daily to purify the environment. This is the message here.

Agnihotra is an effective means of eliminating environmental pollution. The solution to all personal and global problems lies in Agnihotra. Agnihotra is not a religion, but a human duty. Agnihotra is performed in less time, less expense, and less labor. The results are vast, beyond imagination. There is only one obstacle to Agnihotra—man's greatest enemy—laziness.

 Introduction to Madhav Ashram Sansthan

Madhav Ashram Sansthan was established on June 1, 1976, by the revered Madhavji Potdar, fondly known as “Sahab.” The primary objective of the institution is to spread the knowledge of the ancient Vedic way of life—Yajna (sacrifice), Daan (charity), Tap (austerity), Karma (righteous action), and Swadhyaya (self-study)—which had gradually declined over time.

The institution places supreme importance on nature, considering the entire environment as sacred and worthy of reverence.

 Importance of Agnihotra

Madhavji Potdar Sahab revived the practice of Agnihotra and emphasized that it is the fundamental basis of human life. According to him:

  • Agnihotra is one of the simplest methods for environmental purification and protection
  • It promotes both mental and physical well-being
  • It transcends caste, religion, and social divisions, making it a universal duty of every human being

Today, in 2026, this small ritual of offering two oblations is increasingly becoming a necessity for human life.

Philosophy of the Institution

The teachings of the institution emphasize that:

  • True happiness is not found in material comforts but in eternal inner peace
  • Humans must strive continuously to evolve towards true humanity
  • Modern development has provided material gains, but not lasting happiness
  • Humans have largely forgotten their responsibility toward nature

While many individuals and organizations are working toward environmental protection, there is still a strong need for collective awareness and action.

Life of the Founder

Madhavji Potdar was born in Vidisha and his life’s work was centered in Madhya Pradesh. He began systematically promoting Agnihotra in 1968.

After his passing in 1974, his devoted disciple Nalini Madhavji carried forward his teachings with dedication, preserving them in their original form.

The Ashram houses his samadhi (memorial shrine), which is a place of deep श्रद्धा (reverence) and spiritual energy for followers.
